Spiritual Memoir · Loss, Redemption & Faith
My Reasons Why
An intimate journey through loss and redemption — and the faith that carried me through both.
There's a verse that held me when nothing else could: The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. I clung to it. I questioned it. I came back to it. This memoir is the story of all three.
My Reasons Why is the most personal thing I've ever written. It's the story of the losses that nearly undid me — the ones that made me ask whether the faith I'd built my life on was real, or just a story I told myself to get through the day. And it's the story of what I found on the other side of that question: not easy answers, not a tidy redemption arc, but a God who showed up in the wreckage and a reason to keep going that I couldn't have found any other way.
This is a spiritual memoir for anyone who's stood in the ruins of a life they didn't plan and asked why — and who's still brave enough to listen for an answer. I don't pretend the listening is easy. I only promise it's honest. Every page of this is true. These are my reasons. Maybe a few of them are yours too.

Surviving and thriving
The difference between making it through and learning to live again — and how Sy found the second one only after the first.

From the author
A note from Sy
This is the book I was most afraid to write, and the one I most needed to. My Reasons Why isn't a memoir about how faith fixed everything. It's about the season when it didn't feel like enough — when I had to decide whether I believed what I'd always said I believed, or whether I'd only believed it when it was easy. I'm still here. I still believe. But the belief I have now is different from the one I had before: quieter, sturdier, and honest about the dark. If you're in the dark, I wrote this for you. You are not alone in it.
Love, Sy ~
“A spiritual memoir that doesn't flinch. Sy Robinson writes about doubt the way it actually feels.”
“I handed this book to my sister the week she lost him. She said it was the first thing that didn't try to fix her.”
